San Pablo Avenue is a regional thoroughfare that extends through the City of San Pablo and much of the East Bay Area. The character of the Avenue, quality of its environment, and the role that it plays vary from one community to another. In the City of San Pablo, the Avenue is the City’s primary arterial, and is home to the City’s major public facilities and community destinations. Most importantly, the Avenue is the primary route for the majority of transit lines that pass through the city.
Because of its prominence within San Pablo, the character and design of San Pablo Avenue play an important role in shaping the community’s perception of the city. Improving the quality of development and establishing design standards will help redefine this corridor as a major local and regional destination for residents, workers, students, and visitors. The
San Pablo Avenue Specific Plan (20.6MB) provides a vision and policies for how the Avenue can become a vibrant, accessible, and sustainable mixed-use corridor.
