Circle S_Revised Concept 3 Vision_BOARD_v2-1.jpg

Residents, professionals and visitors desire a destination to serve as the heart of the community - a place welcoming to all, attractive, accessible, and economically and culturally vital. This is what the future of The Avenue concept is all about. The site was commonly known as Circle S.

The Avenue concept is a vision of a lifestyle center complete with retail, medical services, housing and open space. The Avenue is conveniently located near I-80, Casino San Pablo, Doctors Medical Center and Contra Costa College. These locations draw over 2 million visitors per year. The above rendering is an alternative concept after various discussions suggested that the green should be realigned to compliment the new health center currently bieing built by Contra Costa County.

Community Meetings are coming soon!
The community's input is important to the success of the site. A DESIGN CONCEPT AND REGULATING PLAN TIMELINE is available for your convenience and participation. You are encouraged to attend and share your thoughts. Email us to inform you of the date so you can participate.

Project Overview
The Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Pablo (Agency) identified the Circle S project area as a priority for redevelopment in the City. The Avenue Project consists of approximately 16 acres of land bordered by Church Lane (north), San Pablo Avenue (east) Vale Drive (south) and Wildcat Creek (left). This large project area is made up of five larger parcels including two previous mobile home parks and two businesses. All of the residential and commercial tenants have been successfully relocated.

Contra Costa County approached the Agency in May of 2010 in search for a site to build the replacement of the existing medical center after analysis of other sites proved unfeasible. County and Agency staff met on several occations to negotiate the sale as well as design. The community was invited to view the project and initial designs with final approvals by the Planning Commission and Agency Board.

Vision and fly-through videos were prepared by City Design Collective.
